Why they are
dangerous
Carpenter ants don’t eat wood, but they dig galleries in it to build their nests, which can weaken a home’s structure. They are often linked to moisture, damaged wood and water leaks. Left untreated, the colony grows year after year and the damage to the wood adds up.
The queen, the only one that reproduces
The queen is the only one that reproduces in the parent colony and the satellite colonies. Once she is eliminated, the whole colony eventually dies.
Active even in winter
If you regularly see carpenter ants in your house, especially in the middle of winter, the colony is probably established somewhere inside your home.
Signs of an infestation
Large black ants (6 to 13 mm), small piles of sawdust along the walls, noises inside the walls, ants active even in winter. If you notice these signs, a nest is probably present.

What we treat
most often.
Our solutions are adapted to local conditions: moisture, climate, type of building. The final price is set on site, after the inspection.
Infestations inside the walls
Carpenter ants are attracted to damp, damaged wood. Damp areas such as bathrooms and basements are especially prone to infestation.
- Damp areas located
- Nest located inside the wall
- Water leak repairs recommended
Colonies in the wood
Carpenter ants dig galleries in wood to live in. Weakened support beams or damaged door sills often point to their presence.
- Inspection of wood structures
- Colony treated at the source
- Entry points sealed
- 12-month written guarantee
Activity in winter
Carpenter ants are inactive in winter, unless their nest is in a heated part of the house. Seeing them constantly in winter means the infestation is bigger than it looks.
- Indoor nest located
- Targeted treatment
- Follow-up and prevention
If they come back,
so do we.
All our services under contract come with a 12-month written guarantee. If the infestation persists, we come back for a new treatment at no extra charge, as long as the technician’s written recommendations are followed. The guarantee certificate is given to you before the treatment.

What are the signs of carpenter ants?
Fine sawdust: carpenter ants dig galleries in wood and push fine sawdust out. If you find fine sawdust near your house or your wooden furniture, it may be a sign of an infestation.
Winged ants: during the breeding season, carpenter ants send out winged ants to start new colonies. Damaged wood: weakened support beams or damaged door sills. Worker ants moving around your house, especially in winter.
If you have the slightest doubt about ants in your house, call us as soon as possible.
How do you get rid of carpenter ants?
To get rid of carpenter ants, the queen has to be eliminated, since she is the only one that reproduces in the parent colony and the satellite colonies. Once she is eliminated, the whole colony eventually dies.
Store-bought sprays mostly kill the ants you can see and rarely reach the main colony. Our approach tackles the problem at the source: inspection, nest location, indoor and outdoor treatment with registered professional products, then prevention.
What attracts carpenter ants?
Damp wood: carpenter ants are attracted to damp, damaged wood. Damp areas such as bathrooms and basements are therefore especially prone to infestation. Water leaks make wood damp and attract them too.
Food: they feed on various foods, such as honey, syrup and sweet fruit. Trees and plants: they can live there and enter homes looking for food or a warmer, drier shelter. Fixing leaks, sealing food supplies and keeping wood dry reduce the risk.
How do you find a carpenter ant nest?
Follow the worker ants: they usually take the same routes to look for food or water. Look for fine sawdust near walls and wooden furniture. Check damp areas such as bathrooms and basements.
If you can’t find the nest yourself, our technicians identify the source of the infestation and locate the main nest and the satellite nests.
When should you worry about carpenter ants?
As soon as you notice them in or around your home, because these insects can cause serious structural damage over time. If you regularly see carpenter ants in your house, especially in the middle of winter, it may be a sign that the colony is established somewhere inside your home.
The longer you wait, the more the damage can grow. That’s why it’s important to act quickly.
How much does treatment cost?
The price depends on the size of the infestation. The final price is set on site, after the inspection. Call us at 1·888·582·2191.
